About The Artwork

"Garish: Gimme Shelter"; 2016; Ink, Acrylic, Spray Paint and Gesso on Canvas; 22" x 18" Recently, a family friend passed away. Logan was a shelter Beagle who we adopted from the Michigan Humane Society over 8 years ago - he was already old when we got him. He was your typical Beagle - got into everything for the chance at food, tried to chase after and sniff EVERYTHING POSSIBLE on walks, but was an absolute gentle canine haggis when it came to dealing with our young children. We had to leave him behind in Michigan when my family uprooted ourselves and made our way to Utah. My cousin and his then-girlfriend adopted him, and had him longer than we had when he passed away. They were infinitely more patient and caring for him than we were when we had him, and we a re glad he had an amazing end to what must have been a rough life. At his passing, I found a great image of a forlorn dog sheltered underneath a woven blanket, and it made me think of the tapestry we weave for ourselves and those in our care. This one's for you, Haggis.
