About The Artwork

This is a painting/drawing of my kitty caught in a moment of lounging on the kitchen counter. This particular counter is away from food so I usually allow it. He likes the spot and sun bathes there. The materials and style while consistent with my overall style was a somewhat new exploration. I used an underpainting of hand made acrylic gesso then added bits of watercolor pencils. I then went back in with a wax based pencil to create a linear design. On top of that I used pastels and the pencil being waxy created a resist effect. I went back and forth with the materials until I got the desired effect. I have been working in a mixed media approach for some works in the past year or two or so. I have been painting and drawing for over twenty years in a variety of medias and I find lately I have been enjoying an exploration of what different media can do together. My styles tend to be towards the expressive/impressionistic with leanings towards abstraction. Though that being said I have painted fairly realistically to almost pure abstraction. I have a vast range. My mood really influences the image. This style is based in part on artists such as Paul Klee, Jackson Pollock, Van Gogh, and others. I truly believe in represents a new style a contemporary style with influences from art history.

Dear collectors, I am just a simple person living a simple life. Having lived in some beautiful places; nature is important to me. I currently resided in small little country home. A love for painting is my one true constant. One of the true joys in my life has been the time spent exploring my little world as an artist. I am almost forty-two now and continue to paint; having practiced for almost thirty years now. I am both self taught and trained as I have a bachelor's degree from a Framingham State College. I have always worked multiple jobs while still somehow creating and selling on almost a daily basis. I am so happy to say that many people all across the United States enjoy my artwork on their walls. For me my paintings are more then a pretty picture. No matter if I am doing a portrait or a landscape there is meaning and feeling behind each one. I explore character and the uniqueness of the subject at hand. I love the outdoors and have a deep respect for the natural world. As my family owns an old farm with woods and many wild animals make their home their.
