About The Artwork

Anguish of the Tasmanian tiger extinction is portrayed in graphite and sanguine on the demise of a unique animal species. The Tasmanian tiger (thylacine) has an extraordinarily wide opening jaw, dog-like and tiger-like features, but carried young in a pouch like the kangaroo. It's believed people hunted the thylacine to extinction by the 1930's. What happens to these animals could happen to mankind. I chose the mannerist style to draw parallels between endangered animals and all living creatures, here man and tiger. All my nude drawings are from New Yorkers who model in person.
