Checkmate in five moves! That's embarrassing! Didn't see that coming, kinda like that little red brick! Underground comix ruined my mind! The black king must have cheated. How do you make a stone float? Does a brick zip? Hmm? Does it make you smile? That's the important thing. That poor little brick. Fantasy art can bend your mind and make you smile. Maybe it was the mushrooms. I created the first illustration of "Checkmate" while at The Art Center in Pasadena, back in the 80's. I always wanted to title it, "Oh Shit!" Call it what you like, but I hope it made you smile.

My passion is painting. I draw and sketch daily but have a continuous fascination watching a face come alive as I paint, or paint believable reflections. I want my work to catch the viewer's eye and create an emotional connection. I was born in North Dakota and grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. I began drawing when I was about five years old. I can remember how fascinated I was with fingerpaints and how the colors blended as I smeared my hands through the greasy paints.
