Contact us.Alberto Fusco is a London-based Italian artist whose work has been exhibited and collected internationally, including selection for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2026. His practice draws on traditions of pattern, rhythm, and repetition, extending them into a distinctive sculptural language.
Fusco transforms magazines and printed matter into intricate three-dimensional works. Flat, ephemeral pages are meticulously folded, layered, and assembled into vibrant geometric compositions. Often diamond shaped and constructed from repeated modular units, his sculptures occupy a space between mosaic, textile, and architecture, combining visual intensity with the tactile presence of their source material.
At the core of Fusco’s practice is transformation. Materials associated with immediacy, consumption, and obsolescence are slowed down through an intensely physical process and reconfigured into enduring sculptural forms. By giving everyday printed matter a new presence and significance, Fusco challenges conventional notions of value, permanence, and fragility, revealing unexpected beauty and order within the overlooked.
Repetition is fundamental to the work. Fold follows fold, line meets line, and colour moves across the surface in carefully constructed rhythms. While the resulting forms possess a strong geometric precision, the handmade process introduces subtle variations, allowing each work to retain a sense of movement, tactility, and vitality.
Sustainability is an integral but understated aspect of Fusco’s practice. Through the use of recycled materials, he invites reflection on consumption and waste without resorting to overt commentary. The folds, lines, and rhythmic structures of his sculptures evoke both natural growth and human craft, creating a dialogue between the organic and the geometric, the fragile and the enduring.
Ultimately, Fusco’s work explores the relationship between material and imagination. His sculptures demonstrate how an overlooked and seemingly disposable material can be transformed through patience, repetition, and invention into something luminous, resilient, and alive.
