During an interview in LA, the artist reveals her fascination with Triple X newspapers found in colorful kiosks scattered across the city. Eagerly searching the coveted want ads nestled in the back pages. Carefully cutting out images of strikingly beautiful women, she would then incorporate them into her stunning collage works. For her, this was a way of providing a safe haven for these alluring ladies on her wall, protecting them from the harsh realities of street life that they were so often associated with. That was 2007. Fast-forward to 2020, the world is facing a global pandemic. Despite the challenges & uncertainties of time, the Artist finds inspiration through interviews w/Andy Warhol. Armed with paint and a keen eye for color & abstract shapes, she creates six rectangles on crisp matte board. Rummaging through her stash of previously painted, stenciled, and printed papers, she comes across a rare first edition copy of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf". Some may gasp at the thought of cutting up such a valuable book, but for this Artist, it's part of the creative process. Each piece is framed by repurposed frames from an antique shop. The discarded and forgotten frames, have life. Through careful sanding, painting, and application of delicate gold leaf, she transforms each frame into a stunning work of art in its own right. Each frame measures approximately 10" x 10" x 1" or 12" x 9" x 1". We hope you enjoy this whimsical collection.
