About The Artwork

Why do bats host and spread so many viruses? In addition to the fact that they are spread all over the world, that they can live in extremely different environments, there are some reasons that can contribute to this unique feature. Bats have an innate immune response that is very efficient in fighting infections and have an accelerated metabolism linked to the ability to fly, aspects that allow bats to host viruses that would cause serious infections and death in other animal species. Bats, living in colonies with a high density of bats in limited spaces such as caves, caves, uninhabited attics, favor viral transmission within the colony. Furthermore, flying bats can spread their viruses over larger areas than most mammals that move on the ground. Bats and coronavirus Over 200 different coronaviruses have been identified in bats, and not only the new coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and the new coronavirus SARS-CoV2, but also the human coronaviruses that cause the common cold are thought to derive from bats. Bats are considered the main reservoirs of coronaviruses, they maintain their circulation in the environment and increase their genetic variability. Coronaviruses in bats do not appear to cause serious infections, probably thanks to an evolutionary adaptation that occurred over millions of years of interaction between coronavirus and bats.Research indicating the pangolin as a likely reservoir for SARS-CoV2 is also awaiting confirmation. Even the ISS, through its participation in the European consortium MOOD (MONitoring Outbreak events for Disease surveillance in a data science context), funded by the EU Commission under the H2020 program, is involved in the collection of information at international level on ecological and the involvement of animals.

My work is deeply influenced by issues related to ecology and the impact that pollution has on current changes facing the planet that hosts us. It is also a continuous research regarding the way of representing human emotions and their way of revealing themselves. It is proposed to develop an understandable language that expresses concepts beyond the aesthetic factor, and that leaves, in the observers, a trace, an emotion that can move consciences, which makes you reflect. In several works, there is, as the dominant message, a silent denunciation made, however, not of words, but of images, volumes and dimensions. In most of my works, I use advanced materials from other processes, simply because I find them suitable for the idea I had previously conceived: that it had created a storm within me. Scraps of any material, such as marble, cardboard, plastic film or cardboard, have a very strong attraction. Everything appears to me as a possibility and an opportunity for my purposes. Use daily experiences as a starting point and reconsider the perception of society. In my works, the influence of a graphic designer training is very evident, especially in sculpture; geometrically minimalist design and propensity to simplify by removing. Firm intention to regain possession of the instinctive part of ourselves, far from social tendencies and forcing. Perhaps, for this reason, love for African art, free from contamination; freeing the spirit in a pure, primordial state, diametrically opposed to the imitation of styles that we currently observe. My artistic path, from materials to disciplines, has always been accompanied by experimentation and the desire to leave behind the works of the past, which also means yesterday, and to reconstruct, in each work, a new analysis of our living identity. Attilio Calloni was born in Monza on 4/8/1963. His way of doing art, far from patterns, has already emerged from drawings made as a child. He attended the state art institute of Monza obtaining the diploma of master of art. He was a student of the architect and designer AG Fronzoni from whom he acquired the notions of essentiality 'in the forms found in his works. He has participated in group exhibitions: "artistic-mind and christmas in art. Every year he participates in a yacht design competition. Constant experimentation and versatility in the use of techniques: pencil, painting, sculpture and digital drawing. An absolute artistic totality.
