About The Artwork
The Emergence series is based on the concept of blending abstraction and realism into one piece. The term emergence, the process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed, is the concept for this work. I used the bottle tree seed pods for the realism component in the work and plaster on the side to create a more abstracted contrast to the seed pods. The composition is intended to be a dance of the seed pods or to give the work movement. I love drawing detailed still-life or nature morte (dead nature) in my works but also love the colour and beauty of abstract art.
