From the series "Struggle", these works are a tribute to the archetype of the warrior in the context of the spiritual war that is waged in every human heart in the path of liberation. The great spiritual traditions of our world agree that this is the case and the series travels across cultures to make this point. Another term used in this context is the Arabic word "Jihad", a struggle inherent to the human condition, transcending the confines of religious dogma or cultural specificity. This spiritual endeavour calls upon individuals to engage in a profound introspection, to grapple with the complexities of moral decision-making, and to strive for ethical excellence in the face of adversity. It is a journey fraught with challenges and pitfalls, yet one that offers the promise of inner peace, moral clarity, and spiritual enlightenment to those who embark upon it with sincerity and resolve. "On the river Gran" is inspired by historic figures that have embarked on this quest, the Stoic philosopher and emperor Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, the fourth Caliph of Islam, Ali Ibn Abu Talib and the Japanese warrior and founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba.
