The triptych Rift 5 explores the moment of tension and fracture as a metaphor for inner transformation. Sharp geometric planes, built in strict minimalism, collide with the irregular structure of a textured surface. In these cracks, as in zones of vulnerability, amethyst crystals emerge — a symbol o...

Contact us.Veronika Obushikhina (b. 1976, Russia) is a contemporary artist living and working in Catalonia, Spain.
Working across painting and video, Obushikhina explores the expressive possibilities of a radically reduced visual language. Form, line, colour and space underpin compositions in which the interaction of a few elements creates a complex visual experience. In her acrylic paintings, even, opaque colour focuses attention on proportions, boundaries and relationships between elements.
The theme of her practice is freedom in how we see. She seeks beauty and meaning in what may seem simple or insignificant, offering viewers her vision while leaving room for independent discovery. She pays particular attention to colour and how it shapes the perception of form and the composition as a whole. Minimalism and reduction make subtle relationships perceptible, inviting attentive looking.
Obushikhina’s work has been exhibited in Europe and the United States, including at MEAM — Museu Europeu d’Art Modern in Barcelona, as well as in exhibitions in Barcelona, Málaga and Berlin. In 2026, she was selected for the Biennale di Chianciano in Italy and named a finalist of the OSTEN Biennial in Skopje, North Macedonia. She has also been selected to participate in Rome Triennale 2027.
Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Chianciano Art Museum in Italy and in private collections across Europe and the United States.
In 2025, Obushikhina completed her studies at the Institute of Mediterranean Culture. She continues to develop her practice, exploring the richness of perception made possible by a deliberately limited visual language.
