According to a legend, a nobleman from Bavaria appealed to a Jesuit with a request to reconcile them with his wife. They had a strong discord in the family, which could lead to divorce. In those days it was not permissible. The Jesuit asked the nobleman to bring ritual ribbons to him, which were used during their wedding ceremony. After reading a prayer to the icon of the Virgin Mary “Untie the knots” over them, he returned them to the nobleman. It is said that then the Virgin Mary appeared to the Jesuit and rendered assistance in solving the problem. Spouses reached agreement and did not divorse. The picture itself depicts the Virgin Mary, who unravels the knots. On either sides of her, there are angels who help her in this. Insults, betrayals, understatement, claims - all these leave a trace in our heart, a small nodule that blocks the flow of vital energy and prevents it from flowing freely. The Virgin Mary is called to unravel these knots, and then our life becomes full again. As St. Irenaeus said, “the knot of Eve’s disobedience received permission through the obedience of Mary. What Eve bound through infidelity, the Virgin Mary resolved through faith.
