About The Artwork
I was looking at some old family photos of vacations that different family members had taken over the years and stumbled onto a photo that I liked. I painted a representation of the photo I found. I made some changes. I purposely left out lots of details. I wanted a painterly effect with an almost abstract feel while still being representational. This way people would focus on a feeling and reminisce about their own experiences. I choose acrylics as they are one of my favorite mediums as they can be used to create quick painterly images. I also like using glazes at times for certain effects and I find acrylics are good for this. I was intrigued with the clouds and sky and the lighting. I used some more seemingly random brushstrokes in places as a way to add movement and energy. I also worked with solid color versus transparent. I love the moody quality. I don't know where the photo was taken perhaps California?

Dear collectors, I am just a simple person living a simple life. Having lived in some beautiful places; nature is important to me. I currently resided in small little country home. A love for painting is my one true constant. One of the true joys in my life has been the time spent exploring my little world as an artist.
