You can see here what Champagne Ivy looks like including it's rugged edges, on a wooden background.
I love the idea of taking something "imperfect" and turning it into something beautiful a little like the Japanese Kintsugi tradition of using precious metals to turn broken things into works of art in their own right, making them more beautiful than before. The concept of using reclaimed materials not only appeals to me but it means the piece is completely unique and cannot be replicated, this slate lived many years looking at the sun and the stars and I wanted to create a feature. The ivy I used as a reference is from a beautiful river bank near where I live. I started by painting base layers in acrylic and then created depth and shadow by adding layers of oil paint.

Note that the original has 4 small holes (see extra pictures) originally used to hold it to a roof, which can now be used for hanging with or without wire.
Art print unframed, the original work is painted on vintage reclaimed slate and has natural rugged edges.
