About The Artwork

Abstract Spring is an abstract acrylic landscape painting loosely based on The Grand Prismatic Spring in Wyoming, USA. There is a vivid blue centre in the geyser, created by a sterile environment and the great depth of the spring. The centre is surrounded by layers of illustrious colours, which are created by bacteria and microbial mats that live there and enjoy the heat. From the sky this spring is similar to a surreal landscape painting. The Grand Prismatic Spring has a depth of 164ft (50m) and reaches temperatures of 70 degrees C (160 degrees F). This artwork will be sold to the collector framed and ready to create a statement in your household, on your wall.

I studied English Literature BA (Hons) at university and I went on to do a Creative Writing course with the Open University. This led me to becoming a writer of children’s books, in particular I enjoy creating picture books. Gradually the picture became my focus and I started to create an Illustrator’s portfolio. The subject matter I work with varies from representing shape and form to intricate details. I am fascinated with nature and its’ various forms, whether it be wild animals, the wilderness, the weather or our pets. These themes compel me to create art. I have a love and deep respect for nature in all its forms, I hope these feelings permeate into the drawings via my brush or pencil. Illustrators such as Axel Scheffler, Alexis Deacon and writers such as Thoreau, Wordsworth, William Blake and George MacDonald inspire my artwork.
