This piece is a homage to Marc Chagall's painting, I and the Village. I recreated it by first photographing me and my dog in profile on a white background, and then painted on the print. I hope viewers get a sense of the human animal connection. Also, painting on a photograph is a way to blur the lines of reality and the dream world.

June Kim received her MFA from Pratt Institute, and has been part of several national group exhibits, as well as international exhibits such as the Seoul Art Fair in Korea, and the Short Film Festival in Italy. She utilizes all types of media such as video, installation, and photography. Her work explores re-establishing contact with the primal, the past, and the authentic. This is manifested primarily through the animal, as well as the examination of language and communication. June currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
