An Angel's Reassurance Painting

I was inspired to make this piece because in this moment of my life I have been feeling very lost in many different aspects in life. I have also felt loss in my artistic expressed and find I want to continue working in a more Baroque style. I am very influenced by great artists like Caravaggio and wanted to try to express myself in this style. The painting is about how even at your toughest times and darkest moments, when your truly feel alone in this world, the divine and our ancestors are always there to help and guide us even if we may not see or feel this guidance. The angel rests her hand gently on the other woman's face to reassure her in her moment of devastation that this moment will not last and there are unseen forces working in her favor. I tried to further express this in their facial expressions, the woman staring intently at the angel's face looking for reassurance while the angel's face is as gentle as their touch, providing a serene sense of comfort.
