About The Artwork
This was part of my "Domestic" show in Seattle. The composition is strong and simple: three equal lemons in a straight sided bowl. Graphically, this painting refers to the strength and elegance of ancient Japanese family crests. Stylistically, the application of thick oil paint scumbled across roughly textured linen gives a raw and unrefined feel. The shapes and the surface is allowed to be imperfect, like a tea bowl. This painting is framed in raw wood and ready to hang, or be reframed to match your decor.
