About The Artwork

I was inspired by market women, My works put into the public domain the effort of Market Women towards the development of the economy. The support I used as my canvas which I painted on is used by market women which they used to carrying, display and sell their items. The social commentary behind the title "As we dey, money no dey" and how it reflects economic realities in our society. This artwork sheds light on the struggles faced by individuals in the informal sector, like the market woman selling plantains. It highlights the challenges of making a living and the constant battle to earn enough money to sustain oneself and their family. Through the depiction of the market scene, the artist captures the essence of the daily grind and the resilience of these hardworking individuals. The title itself, "As we dey, money no dey," encapsulates the common experience of many people who work tirelessly but still struggle to make ends meet. By exploring these elements, the artwork invites viewers to reflect on the economic disparities and challenges faced by many individuals in our society. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of those who strive to make a living, even when money is scarce. the vibrant colors and bustling crowd, you could also describe the facial expressions and body language of the people in the market scene. For example, you might notice a mix of determination, fatigue, and hope on the faces of the vendors as they work tirelessly to make a living. The atmosphere could be described as lively and energetic, with the sounds of haggling, laughter, and the aroma of freshly cooked food filling the air. The artist also used lighting and shadows to create a sense of depth and contrast, adding to the overall mood and atmosphere of the artwork. By capturing these emotions and atmosphere, the artwork immerses viewers in the vibrant and dynamic world of the market.
