Atomic Meadow Painting

I never plan for a painting, it just is a flow that starts with a memory, thought, or feeling. I can not plan a painting, nor can I try to draw before I paint. Doing so ends in white washing a lot of canvas. During this 30 minute creative burst, I was thinking of my friend Jim. Of how he had been in the Navy, and how rough it must be to be on either side of any war. To bring such destruction, and be responsible for ending so much beauty. This painting to me represents all the souls lost in Japan during the dropping of both atom bombs, and how they have healed and made things there beautiful again even if it seemed a never ending path, like the one running up the mountain. When Jim saw this painting, he said it spoke to him, and asked if he could buy it. He offered me pretty much anything, and insisted that he just couldn't leave without having it. So, I gifted it to him, and used the feeling his desire for it gave me to paint "Heart of Gold".
