About The Artwork

The artwork "Bananas" by Inga Makarova stands as a testament to her vibrant artistic vision, where playfulness and gravity coexist. The large canvas is an orchestration of contrasts, where the serene twilight sky meets the dynamic flurry of bees around ripe, golden bananas. The scene captures a moment of indulgence, buzzing with movement, yet there is a tranquil undertone to this charged encounter. The bees, portrayed with a touch of pop art flair, add a layer of irreverence to the composition. Meanwhile, the use of gold leafing and enamel adds a tactile dimension that invites closer inspection and reflection. Inga Makarova's work is a rich dialogue between different art forms, showcasing her journey from fashion and graphic design to a unique artistic language that defies categorization. Her pieces, including "Bananas," reflect a deliberate escape from routine, brought to life through a passionate engagement with diverse materials and techniques. This painting is a celebration of Makarova's unwavering enthusiasm for the artistic process and her skill in creating works that resonate on multiple levels.

Since early childhood I was always drawing or painting something. However, in my teenage years I newer perceived art as something serious, something one can do for a living. I used to think that I need a “serious” and down to earth profession, while art will remain as something for my soul, a hobby to enjoy during my free time. Now, after almost a decade, my way of thinking completely changed. I am sure that you should enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy. It is impossible to create something meaningful and important if you don’t love what you do, if you have no passion about it. And if you love what you do, it will never turn into a boring routine. I am permanently in search for new themes, concepts, images, new combination of colors and forms. And even if I choose an ordinary theme, I try to transfer it to canvas in a unique and fresh manner. Style or technique of an artwork is not as important for me, as the process of its creation and the result that I receive at the end. Lately, in addition to my experiments with various sources of light, like neon or LED that are used directly in the artwork, I also started experimenting with various objects that are often quite far from art, for example sport jackets, tableware, cutlery, etc.
