Beaver Pond Painting

This is a Beaver pond on a warm day in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The scene is pervaded with perfect silence and the occasional pop of a trout catching a may fly. There are some huge boulders and then Sierra mountains, graced with aging pine trees. I am especially fond of this painting. It brings back beaver ponds from my early childhood in the mountains of Idaho. This is how it looks after sitting quietly and absorbing the place. A little abstract to be sure. I love the contrast of the heavy texture of the rocks and trees with the silky smoothness of the clear reflective water. It is a deep drink of peace. It is a big, little painting.
