Of the sensual oceanic blues and rhythmic waves, what more can you ask for when you let your mind drift to the dreams of the open ocean? As an artist, I have always believed that your surroundings are your biggest source of inspiration. But of course, it is easier said than done. However, there is something magical when these idyllic prompts strike your strokes— because when you start, you cannot put down your brush. I was transported to a recent tropical escape and I remember feeling calm. The blues and teals of the sea and sky were teasing companies but then something occurs when nature decides to shake the serenity down with Her temperament. I saw a small boat across the horizon fighting against turbulent waves that was in a brawl against the thunder and the vicious wind. For a split second, it almost seemed exceptionally breathtaking to witness all these elements coming in tune as do melodies when composing a song. I felt scared, worried but also enraptured by the sheer spectacle before me. Like most good things in life, one must adjourn, as if nothing happened. This piece you see before you is a mental snapshot of what I felt was a pinnacle of that aforementioned show I was fortunate enough to witness. It is almost a poetic reminder to always keep your chin and head high in times of turbulence and always remember to go against the the “tides” because when you reach the end of it, it is a picturesque sight.
