About The Artwork

The work was inspired by a picture I found. It was of me and my brother letting a ship go on a local lake. We built it with our dad, who took the picture. My brothers’ hand gestures were probably the most inspiring moment here. He was so excited about this. His fingers moving with excitement, really makes my heart melt. He would mainly watch everything that was happening, or what I was doing. The ship eventually sank, but it had a good time before that. I hope the viewer gets the excitement of the moment of letting go of something in their life - perhaps a dream, or a wish, or of a thing in their life which has served its purpose. The subject mediums and style I appreciate is always mixed, a lot of layers of failed experiments underneath, that eventually brings me to the finishing image. I like the style of painting fast, however the completion of the painting is always slow. I like when the painting has weight to it. That equals to energy put on the canvas, I’m not just making an image, but an experience, certain time frame locked in the painting.

I’m a Lithuanian artist working in mixed media on canvas and paper. My inspiration comes from neo-expressionists and everyday life events, conversations. I study the differences between cultures I experienced in London, UK and Lithuania. I enjoy using words, collaging paper, painting over, using different mediums to achieve most pleasant view for my eye.
