Vanessa is a Visual Artist based in Toronto, Canada. She loves to camp and ski in the beauty of Northern Ontario. She is in awe of the magic of nature and aims to convey it as abstract compositions. Vanessa has designed extensively for the online marketing industry and continues to use digital technology to draw - from her imagination - "snapshots" of magical moments in nature. She is motivated to refine the snapshots using acrylic on wood panels to reveal combinations of vivid colours. She also loves to use sharp edges and a flattened surface to impart an overall modern graphic impression. With these snapshots, she gives herself the liberty to express and aspire for well-being. That need to seek simplicity no matter how complex life becomes. ..... You Are My Rock is a collection of paintings that continues to explore Vanessa's reverence for nature. Each painting represents a moment of clarity. During these moments, she feels calm and at peace - grounded like a "rock". For her, that is profoundly satiating and regenerating. She believes that kind of nourishment can only be experienced in nature, such as while tree-bathing in moss-covered woods, floating in a vast body of fresh water, or standing barefoot on the sun-toasted Canadian Shield. She is grateful for and humbled by the beauty of Mother Nature.
