This painting achieves a certain aura which I aim to encapsulate in all of my work. It instantly registers with the brain as something that is more than just abstract expressive application of colour and delves into the reality that underneath there lies much more for the brain to interpret and indeed wrestle with. More, it benefits from colour schematics that instantaneously give it punch and impact, a real blow to the senses of human perception. Like most of my work, it allows for interpretation on the part of the viewer that may differ greatly from my own intentions, a beauty of my work I constantly endeavour to expand upon, since what is art if not, like beauty itself, down to the eye of the beholder. For this reason I am always happy for my work to be of equivocal nature, I strive to accept that what could be seen as misinterpretation, in other words, whatever the audience may surmise, is in fact very personal to the viewer in question, and beyond what any artist can truly influence across the broad spectrum of human personality. All of this is to say, that people think so differently from one another, there is so much diversity, that any still image is subject to the individual voyeur's own sense of reality and subject matter becomes almost irrelevant once a painting is released for public digestion. Yet it remains that my paintings always contain a certain pictorial essence which has, I dare say, became a pleasure to produce once I put paint to canvas. Even as the creator, I find myself drawing new conclusions as to my own motives behind many of my paintings, as I am a firm believer that the human psyche is so complex that it is impossible to know exactly what drives even our own subliminal eye to brain recognition and similar faculties. As paradoxical as this statement may be, the more one acts to ossify or indeed petrify, the more one actually opens themselves up to varied interpretation I do believe... So this notion I continue to embrace in my work...
