About The Artwork

Irony, Social Responsibility, Contamination, Communication. These are the four basic elements of my work. Irony is at the base of my cultural formation and my vision of the world, where nothing is sacred and untouchable. Irony is also the tool through which to express the issues of Social, Cultural and Political Commitment without becoming heavy. To show my vision of contemporary facts and myths, I use the iconic language of the myths of the past, the world of cinema, comics and cartoons, realizing an unlimited source of Contamination. The ultimate goal is the Communication with the spectator, his active involvement in the artwork fruition through the recognizability of well known themes, subjects and languages but expressed in an unexpected and surprising point of view. The painting technique I use is a direct consequence of my artistic Communication goals, never indulging in the fine technique itself but being functional to a credible and comprehensible representation of figures, stories and ideas not belonging to the real world. The work I’m presenting is part of the new "Politicartoons" project, a series of paintings that associates faces and personalities of contemporary politicians and public figures with characters as cartoons, movies, video games.

Born with a pencil in the hand. When I was a child I didn't have a good feeling with food. One day my mother discovered that the only way to make me eat without problems was to put some sheets of paper and some pencils in my little hands. Since then, my passion and love for drawing and painting has constantly built up. In the last years my own artistic research is focused on two directions: with my "Deep Painting" I'm investigating the universe of wild emotions, ancient fears, icons and myths hidden in the deepest side of our souls; with my "Minimalist Figurative" I'm working around our visual perceptive mechanisms of the reality, walking on the subtle border between realism and pure abstraction. Nowadays I live and work between Basel and Naples and yes, I still feel myself happier when I draw while I'm eating.
