Painting: Oil on Canvas.
Day turns towards night on State Street in Chicago. Figures pass before us in a procession that seems to merge past, present, and future. Above us glows the marquee of the timeless Chicago Theatre. Built in 1921, the building leans towards its centennial. I am reminded of David Wagoner's poem "My Father Laughing in the Chicago Theater."
"he only laughed
There in that theater. And up the aisle
And through the lobby to the parking lot
And all the way home, I'd see the glow on his cheeks
Fade to the usual hectic steelmill sunburn."
"Chicago Theatre" was exhibited at The Other Art Fair in Chicago in September 2018, the Fabrik Contemporary Art Expo in Los Angeles in October 2018, The Other Art Fair Los Angeles at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica in October 2018, and at Audis Husar Fine Art in Beverly Hills.
