About The Artwork

start a painting with some portion of the Colonel Sanders logo. I identify with his persona and the work it took for him to create a machine that is recognizable around the world. He didn't start dressing like that until his 60s and he did it the rest of his life after that. Every day. In the spirit of the "actionist" painters and tradition of performance art, he has become my way of starting a painting. For 2017, I have added in more sharpie, more oil based enamel, more blur, more abstraction and made them bigger. My influences beyond the aforementioned include hard edge painters, stripe painters, Motherwell, Barnett Newman, etc.
