About The Artwork

This another of a series of invented, fictional portraits that comment on the nature of possession and art history. The convoluted title is an inversion of the title of a famous performance by Joseph Beuys, "How to Explain Paintings to a Dead Hare." Of course, I've mixed up the subject and object and my rabbit is of the typical purple pet store variety. As a fairly traditional painter, it may seem like I am making a critique of Bueys, but I view it as a homage. I love the solemnity and mystery evoked by much of his work. This one is ready to hang with 1.5 inch exposed linen edges.
