Falling rain, rippling the surface of ponds, creates patterns that remind me of water’s important role in sustaining life, and how our own actions and words expand out into the world. I am particularly interested in the first moments when the droplets interrupt the calm surface. Acrylic paint and gel medium is used to create a textured surface before layering many subtle layers of color. Ovals cut from high quality birch plywood have a wood mount on the back that floats the painting off the wall about 1/2 inch. Continuum is part of a series that work beautifully as individual pieces and can be creatively arranged in groups.
