About The Artwork

COTSWOLD – Original. Acrylic on canvas, 60x80x3 cm (24”x32”x1.5”), 2019 INTRO: This original artwork uses a unique combination of acrylic paint on stretched canvas. The artwork is signed on the front, provided with a certificate of authenticity and is sold framed, ready to hang. CURATOR’S VIEW: The painting titled "Cotswold," showcases a charming, rainy street scene set in the Cotswolds, a region of England known for its picturesque villages and rolling countryside. The scene is lively with figures holding umbrellas, walking along the wet pavement that reflects the grey, overcast sky and the quaint, stone buildings. The colour palette is muted with soft blues, greys, and earthy tones that capture the damp, reflective quality of a rainy day. The style is semi-impressionistic with a focus on atmosphere and the feeling of a moment caught in time, similar to the works of Gustave Caillebotte. The material is acrylic on canvas, with visible brush strokes that convey the movement of the rain and the cosiness of the village setting. ARTIST’S CONCEPT: In this vibrant canvas, I've channelled the essence of emotion through abstract forms, using splashes of acrylic that dance in nuanced harmony. The staining technique gives depth, creating a textured symphony that echoes the intangible whispers of nature's beauty. This painting is a piece of my soul, a testament to the unspoken serenity that exists within chaos, inviting a powerful yet soothing energy into your space. CREDENTIALS: Artwork acclaimed at Syona’s solo show “The Journey | Le Voyage”, at the “Au Fond Du Bois” Gallery, in Tervuren, Belgium, from 3 to 9 February 2020 On show at “Sonia Monti” Gallery, 6 Avenue Delcassé, 75008 Paris, France, as part of a collective art exhibition, from 15 December 2020 to 28 March 2021.

As a multi-disciplinary artist, with a background in scenography and choreography, I position myself in the world of abstract expressionist art and work mainly with acrylic as a medium. Its versatility makes possible both solid 3-D layers and fluid aquatic forms. I am particularly fond of textures and the superposition of layers. In order to bring vibrance to my paintings, I like to mix acrylic with other mediums, such as gold leaf, maché or even gravel, since the mixture of those elements creates magnificent and original effects. Through my abstract art, I explore the boundaries between the known and unknown, tending to dissolve the gap between observers and the object observed, in a space where useless questions leave us with the search for truth, in a moment of stillness. Every time my brush touches the canvas, I am making a mark. It is a fundamental element in making any type of art and it’s how I begin to express emotion, movement, and other concepts I wish to convey in an artwork. It becomes possible, then, not simply to paint something, but to create something. To create and re-create myself. That is the miracle. That is the very reason I paint.
