‘Covid-19 Unity’ Acrylic on canvas, 120cm X 160cm,This painting was done in the heat of the lockdown while I battled the covid-19 virus. Basically it features circles which are lined up vertically and horizontally representing the universality of the covid-19 pandemic. The golden circles encases identical contents which reflects that the virus gets to all races of humanity, only one pod features a representation of the virus yet all the spheres are inter linked by the threat posed by this virus. The use of circles also alludes to the cyclic nature of history. what goes around comes around. this is the opinion of our experts who seem to be convinced that it will come around again. If you look well at the image you will notice a clasped pair of hands which symbolises unity, also it can be interpreted as working together towards a uniform goal-'eradicating the virus'. It can also represent the action of washing the hands surreptitiously as a way of staving off infection. or even hands clasped in prayer for relief from the ravages of the disease or praying for the souls of the faithfully departed. This multi layered painting while looking like a cloth design is optimistic that the tiny virus can wreak havoc throughout the world but we will still prevail.
