About The Artwork
The anemones are mostly sedentary, but can also move by sliding on the bottom and some can even uproot abruptly and swim in case of attack. In case of aggression, some sea anemones are able to project white stinging filaments, called acontias. These filaments have effects similar to those of jellyfish for humans. The sea anemones harbor in their tentacles unicellular algae, endosymbiotic zooxanthellae, which metabolize light energy into energy that can be used by the body (such as coral): a large part of their energy is of solar origin. Opportunistically, they complete their menu with plankton, shrimp or small fish caught by their tentacles, which then feed the mouth of the mouth for digestion, in a central stomach cavity. Excreta exits the body through the same orifice
