About The Artwork
Crossroads 200x150cm, Acrylic on Canvas, Knokke-le-Zoute 2018 Painted right in front of the North Sea a few weeks after Olivia returned from her life changing 3 months trip in South East Asia. She was at a Crossroads in her life: would she dare to be different and follow her element by choosing to live from her art, or would she have to continue to follow common paths that don’t quite feed her soul? Crossroads was also the name of the last project she worked on in London before her employer closed in December 2017 (which then led her to travel, step back, review her needs - what, why, how to achieve them? - and finally follow her art and heart). The blue and beige parts on the canvas represent the elements in front of her eyes (sea, sand), the dark line represents the still unclear path as she didn’t dare yet to make a choice. The painting also symbolises that our life is like a canvas: we filled some parts of it, but there is still a lot of blank space left (hence the imposing presence of white in Crossroads); it is always the right time to fill it with something new. There is infinity of paths to choose from. Your life is Your own canvas to fill with Your own imagination according to Your own needs and aspirations. You can make a change if change is what you need.
