Deferred Pleasures shows rows of carefully selected wines, resting in quiet anticipation. The painting suggests that some things in life improve with time and are worth waiting for. Choices made too quickly can lose meaning, while patience allows character to develop. It reminds us that anticipation...

Contact us.Henk Weijers (b. 1959, Rotterdam, the Netherlands) is a painter based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, he is known for paintings that move between geometric abstraction and expressive impressionism. His work explores the relationship between structure and painterly expression, often combining clear
compositional frameworks with layered colour and textured surfaces.
Before becoming a full-time artist, Weijers held engineering and leadership roles in the oil and gas industry, living and working in seven countries across three continents. This experience sparked his interest in human interaction and its absence
in professional environments, later informing Parallel Lives, a series exploring people and groups who share the same space yet have little meaningful interaction.
Henk Weijers’ paintings are characterized by defined geometric structures, an emphasis on colour relationships, and carefully balanced compositions. Within these frameworks, he develops expressive surfaces through layered application of paint and gestural marks.
His subject matter encompasses abstract compositions, landscapes, and explorations of human interaction, expressed through colour and composition rather than detailed representational realism.
Recent notable works include a series of semi-abstract landscapes (2026) and a series on the paradox of human connection in an increasingly fragmented world (Parallel Lives 2026
& Urban Crossings 2026).
Deeply concerned about the fate of people of Ukraine, Henk Weijers donates all proceeds from the sale of his artwork to support them.
Henk Weijers has exhibited internationally in Italy, Spain, France, Austria and Japan.
