Dive Deep into the Unconscious ( w/ the sword of Virtue) Painting

I started this piece when I first started to feel the dark and chaotic energies around me emitting from my roommates. In an expression of frustration I cut loose on the darkly primed canvas wildly scribbling with white grease pencil, which served as the background structure of the painting. There is always a flow to the lines and this one is no exception but the aggressiveness of application and jumping about of jagged areas definitely captures the psychotic personality. After applying another layer of deep blue I began to shade in forms with white and red looking like flesh and bone tearing away at the very aethers. As I continued and it grew deeper and darker I thought 'I've got to get out of here'. This became the mantra for this piece and in my life at the time. I usually work on a few pieces at a time like a visual diary expressing the energy then meditating on its conclusion as a piece. It was shortly thereafter I started the Angel piece which is a continuation of the blue background but calmer. After completing both the roses and angel piece I went back to this piece and added the central figure. Although she is seen jumping in it is with a sense of victory. I knew I was going to make a figure inside the dark chaos but it was not until I had completed the other pieces that it came together. I had done a quick sketch directly on canvas of the elongated proportions, then went back feeling like a superhero and added the fashionable details in her suit, boots and glasses. the gold sword is a symbol of virtue as a weapon and her gold boots and corset reflect she is taken by gold boots, by vehicles of virtue leading her steps and a restrained feminine sexuality. In reality I was keeping to myself, focusing on my inner world without romantic relations and emerging victorious from any vice or negativity. Upon completion of this piece I soon moved out of that environment and found myself invited to a meditation center for the next two weeks before heading up to Canada. The piece is victorious and a progression of the former two. It is one of my favorite now due to its both illustrative and abstract nature. Embodying dark and chaotic with perfect focus and illumination. Fine art and fashion illustration. And its just so cool.
