Artist Ottó Szabó is dealing with creative work, sacral and monumental painting, sculpting, interior and exterior designing, classical and computer graphic, book illustration, typography and and preparation for printing- press, art and cultural management and he is tutoring new talents. He was born on 29th of March 1965, in Rožňava. Currently he lives with his family in Hosťovce in Slovakia. Otto Szabó finished his secondary-school education in Moldava nad Bodvou in 1983. Between the years 1988 and 1994 he studied at the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava at the Department of Graphic Arts, where he received his master degree in Fine Arts. Since 1989 he has been publishing his drawings and illustrations in the Slovakian and Hungarian press. Many graphical reports and interviews have been appeared about his creative work and personality. Since 1990 he has been actively taking part in the national artistic scene and his works regularly appear in individual or group exhibitions. In the year 2003, on the occasion of the Festive Week of Books in Budapest, his book with the title STÁCIÓK / ŠTÁCIE was published by the publisher Méry Ratio, in which the preface is written by a significant personality of the Hungarian fine art, Jankovics Marcell. The book is presenting and describing the successful pictures of the the Way of the Cross in Orechová Potôň. Otto Szabó is dealing with book illustrations too: he has illustrated a few books of several publishers like the Méry Ratio, AB-Art, Lilium Aurum, Kalligram, Madách and his paintings and illustrations often appear in the national and international press. In the year 2003 he received the prize of the Association of Hungarian Visual Artists in Slovakia for his activity. In 2004 he was awarded by the prize of the Group of Slovakian Hungarian Artists, of which he has been a member since 1994. In 2005 Otto Szabó was one of the initiators for establishing the first Upland art portal, the three-language Rovart (), and he became its artistic leader and publisher. For his activities he recieved the prize of Pro Cultura Hungarica in 2010. In 2012 he established the National Rovas Creative Community (eNRA). At present he teaches at the Secondary-school of Applied Arts in Košice, where he is the head of the Graphic Department. In 2014 he became the founder of the artistic group ROVÁS and of the Löffler Independent Academy, which is dealing with contemporary artistic initiations and exhibition organizations.
