Contact us.Raymundo Garza is a contemporary painter based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His work explores the human body as architecture—an evolving structure shaped by memory, intimacy, tension, and space.
Working primarily in oil, Garza moves between figuration and abstraction through layered color, fragmented anatomy, gestural drawing, and visible revisions. Figures emerge, disappear, and reappear within architectural fields, allowing the history of the painting to remain present on the surface.
Before focusing on painting, Garza developed a visual practice through commercial and editorial photography, an experience that continues to inform his understanding of composition, light, and the human form. His current series, Vestigios del Cuerpo, investigates what remains when the body shifts from physical presence into memory and trace.
Originally from Matamoros, Mexico, Garza studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey and later lived for many years in Cleveland, Ohio. He now lives and works in San Miguel de Allende, where his studio practice is centered.
His work has been exhibited in Mexico, including presentations in Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta.
