Elation, Limited Edition 1/10 Painting

Abstract digital graphic, contemporary, expressionistic. This work in white, gray, and black makes visible inner structure of paint strokes and lines, focusing on differences in texture and value. It initially engages the viewer by a configuration emerging from the lower right of the work that surges upward like a black sail under an overcast sky, spreading out into a multitude of thinner lines and thereby opening up the bright space in the picture. The surging configuration on the right is steadied by a dense bundle of partly opaque, partly transparent, paint strokes and lines originating in the lower left. A bundle of lines crossing over from the right complicates the tangle. It contains a smooth line surging upward from the bottom and veering toward the left upper corner, thereby forcing a harmonizing synthesis of the image which is characterized by a highly differentiated gray background. Small round shapes in the lower right confirm the fluidity of the configuration as a whole. The complexity of the image technically derives from merging spontaneous movements of a dynamically changing stylus with intuitively controlled algorithmic processes that determine the character of individual strokes and surface, as well as their texture and direction. The work is printed on Hot Press Fine Art Smooth Bright White paper (an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish, yielding an extremely high color gamut and black density). It is signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a CoA, and shipped without hanging hardware, in a very sturdy tube protected against folding and puncture.
