I was born in Bloemfontein in 1941; and started a career as a professional artist in 1983. My inspiration comes from the local environment – farm laborers harvesting wheat or picking fruit, fynbos pickers collecting bouquets of indigenous flowers and fisher folk sorting their catch. Lately I have experimented with surrealist dream-like works as well as abstract art
