"Creating a False Self in the first place" A false self because it is an unconscious defense, can bury a conscious, authentic self. It’s the false self that strategizes and develops strength, confidence and acceptance. And the true, conscious self gets suffocated and sent into hiding.

About the Artist

Ben Ka

United States

I am an abstract painter, particularly drawn to the realm of the unconscious. My work is inspired by artists such as Georges Braque, Salvador Dalí, Paul Klee, Fernand Léger, René Magritte and Yves Klein, as well as by the great masters of the Italian Renaissance, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini, Sandro Botticelli, Paolo Veronese and Caravaggio.

Simply reflecting on our dreams reveals the extraordinary creativity hidden within the unconscious. Painting becomes both a pleasure and a risk: an exploration of territories that are at once intimate, mysterious and unpredictable. What fascinates me most is the viewer’s gaze the infinite possibilities of interpretation that emerge when a work is encountered.

For me, a painting begins like a dream: a dazzling vision that suddenly imposes itself on the mind, only to vanish just as quickly. The act of painting is an attempt to capture that fleeting moment before it disappears.

I am particularly interested in the dialogue between abstraction and figuration. Introducing a figurative element into an abstract composition invites the viewer to question perception, memory and meaning. The abstract painter may remove or transform aspects of reality, yet remains deeply connected to lived experience. Between abstraction and figuration lies a unique space of freedom; the freedom to create, to imagine and to reinvent.

Everything is transient. Art alone has the power to transcend time.
