"First Rain" is part of a series of artworks called "Winding Down." With the first rain of the season a certain softness arrives as the Earth opens up to gratefully soak in each drop. Everything is washed clean and there is a special smell of renewal in the air. In this painting the first rain arrives at the close of day in the ombre light of twilight. The last glimpses of day peak through. The overall feeling is of letting go and relaxing, often missing in today's go-go lifestyle. The intention of the artwork is to serve as a reminder to take a moment to relax and breathe. -Thanks!
