ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I set up this still life with the milk pitcher and fruit, but it was missing something. After painting for awhile, I realized that these beautiful bright red butterflies would be the perfect addition. Once I added them in the reflection, I knew I had to make one appear to have landed on the painting, so I painted a shadow beneath the one on the top left to make it appear as an illusion.

As a visual artist, I work mostly in acrylics. I have been drawing and painting my whole life and knew that I wanted to be an artist by the time I was five years old. I wanted to make what I thought was a stable career out of my passion by studying Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design. After earning my degree, however, I realized that painting was my true calling. I settled in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and began to paint images of the places and objects that have impacted me the most. I now focus on still life objects and foods that I have a great fondness for and nostalgic connection to. I find beauty in simple pleasures and I enjoy bringing them to life with striking light and contrast.
