About The Artwork

Part of an ongoing series set amidst the ruins of ancient architecture, evoking the passage of time and history and a caution for us regarding our own hubris. In this piece we are also reminded how nature persists in ways we don’t always appreciate or understand. Collage, transfer print, acrylic paint, watercolor, colored pencil, and found images are employed to create the somewhat surreal scene. The painting is on a cradled wood panel with painted edges, ready to hang or to frame if so desired.

Born and raised in New York City, attending the High School of Music and Art and having access to the rich cultural resources of NYC changed my life. I graduated with honors from the City College, and received an MA in Art History from Columbia University. After relocating to the Philadelphia area, I taught art history at Rosemont College and Villanova University and earned a four-year certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Eventually I gave up the classroom for the studio, and am currently creating mixed media work, employing collage and transfer print techniques on canvas, wood panels, and paper. There have been many solo shows and group shows over the years; locally, nationally and internationally, and my work can be found in both public and private collections. It was a great privilege to spend time as an artist in residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming. My work is on the cover of Contemporary Poets, from Chelsea House Press, is included in Quotable Women, published by Running Press of Philadelphia, and has been published in Philadelphia Stories magazine. I am an active member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, DaVinci Art Alliance, and InLiquidart, and maintain a social media presence on Instagram and Facebook.
