Big skies and flat lands...this area of Lincolnshire is know as 'Little Holland' due to the similarities of the two landscapes. Based on sketches and photographs taken from the top of a grain silo. I clambered up and turned...and was stuck by this serene and sweeping view (it is a challenge to achieve height in such a flat part of the world!). Hard windy winters give rise to a certain 'bleakness', but there is beauty in the huge skies and productive fields below. Broad sweeping brushstrokes in the green foreground fields lead your eye towards the midground trees and softly fading distant land. Defined, bold brush marks describe the calm sky above. A landscape that takes you away to restful country walks and fresh air. Painted in Michael Harding Professional Artists oil colours on a stretched, Italian linen canvas. It is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Strung and ready to hang. This painting will be carefully wrapped for shipping in a layer of tissue paper, recycled bubble wrap, foam board and a sturdy cardboard box.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
