It's a surreal image from the actual situation of the migrants or boatpeople. The reference of the conception is from Bocklin's painting: The death Island. Ile des morts. In my painting, Europe doesn't mean death, but hope and wealth (Diamond). But the reality of Europe is also like a diamond for the boatpeople... it's mean also cold, plain, hard and unaccessible (for most of people).
