About The Artwork

This is a mixed-media work that depicts a scene in Waimanalo, a community situated on Windward Coast of the island of Oahu, Hawaii. A fruit stand vendor is closing up shop for the time being as wind gusts pick up speed and rain begins to fall. The piece incorporates watercolor, colored pencil, and gouache; the foundation of the work consists of watercolor washes and marks. I used colored pencil and gouache to accent and refine the work. The finished piece consists of watercolor paper mounted on a cradled art board. The adhesive is acrylic gel medium.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I often find inspiration in the outdoors, painting and drawing en plain air. Before I settle on a place and subject, I always have to roam about for some time, "shopping" for a scene that I find particularly compelling. A major component of my process is physicality, which includes experiencing a place through multiple senses. The smell of freshly cut grass and the feel of the sun's warmth on my skin, for example, can affect me powerfully. I try to paint my experience, including my emotions and non-visual sensations.
