This a Hindu mythological painting of one of the longest epic Ramayana .This painting beautifully depict the grazing fields, forest rivers sky and everything in a very distinct patter in a abstract form with golden Sri Lanka palace at its back and all this makes this painting very unique . we can see two main characters in this painting. One is God Hanuman in the left side who is considered to be one of the reincarnation of God Shiva and the other is Demon Meghnath .Who has sat for worshipping his God , and in the mean time we can observe Hanuman jii throws a bucket full of water in the fire to make this worship null. He was worshipping Nikumbila Devi Nikumbala is the name of a place in Sri Lanka, where the Devi is worshipped. According to Valmiki Ramayana, Ravana’s son Indrajit performed a Yagna to get special weapons and powers. Indrajit needed the mystical powers to fight against Lord Rama and Lakshmana, in the war. It is believed that , after the Yagna was finished,God Nikumbala Devi emerged from the Yagna and gave Darshan and blessed the Ravana’s family with mystical powers and thus became their Kul Devi. Nikumbila was mentioned in the Sundara Kanda and Yuddha Kanda of Ramayana. She was adored by Indrajit in order to appease her to get powers in the shortest way. Indrajit was a Vamachari - follower of tantric traditions. The VAAMACHARIs sacrifice animals, follow rituals that were abhorred by the People following Vedic way of life, to attain Tantric Powers, which are different from that of Yogic Powers. The Tantric Powers can attained within short time, but have certain deadly consequences. If the TANTRIK s fail to complete the rituals in the prescribed manner, death is assured. Even Ravana was a Vaamachari, and thus he obtained Tantric powers and opposed, Devas, who are representatives of Vedic way of life. Seeing Ravana, his father looking lamented after hearing the death of Ravana's sons and brothers, Indrajit/Meghnath promises to destroy Rama and Lakshmana. He sets out, for the battle, accompanied by his army. After reaching the battle-field, Indrajit performed a sacrificial ritual there, duly making an oblation to the fire. But suddenly before finishing his ritual God Hanuman came there and destroyed the yagna by putting water on it .Thus it helped the God Ramand and Laxman to defeat Meghnath or Indrajeet .

Hello, I am Soham Biswas ,born in 1997 . I come from a Bengali family in Kolkata which had always served as a root to my passion for art. From my childhood, I have been inspired by the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma which drove me to pursue my journey in this field . My main focus and area of interests when it comes to painting is Hindu mythology and how it is being linked with our present life and society . Painting and drawing became a part of my life ever since I was a little boy and it only propelled to new heights after I started studying fine arts at Birla academy of art and culture. Through rigorous practice, I mastered the techniques of traditional art but it was contemporary art which gave me a voice of my own. Ever since that happened, I have started to see my life in a different perspective .Through contemporary art, I am able to express myself in ways I couldn’t have imagined before. I adopted contemporary art into my practices and slowly developed a style of my own.
