About The Artwork

'Golden Hour' represents the short window of time each day when nature is bathed in a warm light. My inspiration is the wooded areas that have grown up along the north end of the cove near my studio. Professional artist acrylic on cold press Arches with archival museum board in raised areas. Satin varnish for UV protection. DaVinci box mount surrounded by gold floating frame. Measures 25 1/2 x 22 with frame. 24 x 20 without frame. Signed by the artist and ready to hang.

After many years in New York's Soho, I am now based in an oceanside studio in Rhode Island. My work is inspired by the 400 miles of coastline in this state as well as my travels throughout the Caribbean and Central America. In working with acrylic in addition to oil, I am able to apply layers of transparent color and meet the challenge of the relative immediacy demanded by this medium. Acrylic also allows me to sculpt with heavyweight archival papers in new and exciting ways that refer to marine life. The seascape tradition is informed by a 21st century sensibility that continues to define my practice. Bio Trained as a painter in the classical tradition at Rhode Island School of Design/ RISD, Wyllie moved into the area of Abstraction ten years ago. Her paintings and mixed media works reside in numerous public and private collections from Switzerland to Tokyo. The Newcomb Art Museum at Tulane University in New Orleans acquired 'Observatory' in May 2021. The State Darwin Museum in Moscow made 'Moth Vitals' part of their permanent collection and her painting "Oceanside' was selected for a recent summer fundraising auction event at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
