HIDE OR QUIT Painting

This work is about women. It's about the concept of a contemporary woman (seated in the painting) being cut off by masculine violence and lack-of-emotion from ancient feminine wisdom (inclining woman) who learned from much sorrow (tears in basket) what it's like to be a woman in a man's world and tries to reach the modern woman and envelop her with care and love and understanding. The modern woman is at once the masculine violence (left hand) and the feminine nurturing (right hand) but the masculine violence, as championed by the culture, is wounding the feminine nurturing (blood on right hand). Thus, the modern woman feels she must choose to hide her feminine energy or quit it all together (pop up, nod to contemporary culture and digital media).
